Meditations Reading Job

There was a woman whom I worked with for these past two weeks. She had a tattoo on her wrist from Rev. 19. I guess she remembers the beginning of the end everyday. Also, a response to "Song of Hiawatha."
Somewhere in the heavens
Sits One waiting to eclipse the darkness
He that is swift as the waters
He that set the earth in it's place

With a face outshinning the sun
The One of infinite wisdom
with locks that also shine
This man with beautiful locks and a voice
calming like the waters
Came down

to see me stand
The Lord came down
and descended to the pit
and raised up ignorant ones
like me

He teaches me, a life of service
is a key to the Kingdom
maybe I could wash his feet one day
maybe the clouds will part and I will see
the elders and the angels that ever
Glorify the Lord of the fires

11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:

KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

A rant about higher education and consumerism

whenever you go after the forbidden fruit
Knowledge that exalts greater than the One
Who formed it

You know, you find it sometimes in school
or self-help books
transcendental meditation
We can't help ourselves, can we?
the hunger for knowledge to find--
We can't help ourselves:
He can,
the very One from who we demand
every point of the plan
so that He can't lead us

Stubborn sheep, wait, guess I mean goats
If we can't be the center
then there's little hope
for the completion of the plan
Hey, God! What about me?
Where's all those promises? And, I need to eat.

The wall's up
constructed of every injustice we ignore
in favor for 2 cups of Stabucks and CrispyKreme hole?
All the while, He searches for souls,
who can be trusted with true riches and what He knows.

A Day of Turning

This is my salty deliverance
work for work's sake
a length of days I do not look for
everything builds to nothingness
I'm searching for certainty
But, I think this time is passing,
I think this time is ending so,
I live

Measures of times in bliss
Attack my memory
the torture--every morning of good dreams
to wake to this mystery,
doubting I was asleep

This fantasy, this dream, must be this decaying
substance that stares at me, from sunken sodden eyes
I dream I'll wake again in eternity
to find the whispering mind
not the words spoken
were true

This is my detestable time of labor
It does not end
God inhales, we sleep.

"Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit. Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away." James 4:13-14

Passion

We suffer because we know there is something better

I remember a mountain climb
in hail, we were thirsty, one of us wounded
In selfishness I had bounded ahead,
I left the wounded behind...

But, you Rachel, stayed with our wounded friend
You, wrapped with two heavy packs on the front and back
But when I and another reached the top and found we couldn't leave
When rain started falling, hail so thick we couldn't see

You climbing up

I feared then. I feared for your life.

After ten miles of hellish heat, we started back down again to find you
the flash flooding could have killed us
the lightning could have killed us
the hail should have killed us
but we pressed though
together

Now, what can be said.
What an adventure, none dead.
But, I cannot fathom the story with another ending.

---

Just as He went
up that hill for us
suffering and death could not have been on his mind
the rescue
He suffered because He knew there was something better

---

Right, the sun refused to shine
Wicked beings killing our Maker?
Do you suppose there was some earth quaker?
Or did she shake with fury at injustice?

I imagine the sun said, "I can't watch this..."
I imagine the earth tried to do what He wouldn't permit.
He held the earth still, called no angels to His will.
He drank suffering and with passion said, forgive them.

Can we pray that prayer?

"We must focus on Jesus, the source and goal of our faith. He saw the joy ahead of him, so he endured death on the cross and ignored the disgrace it brought him. Then he received the highest position in heaven, the one next to the throne of God."
Hebrews 12:2

Paradise Needs Hell

Solid fire
Pillars in I and you
Then the conclusion that permanence is an illusion
Just like solidity

And if it's false
Then He can touch
And He can heal
And we can fly and be moved

When you're walking on plains of existence
on Solid fire
and all above is liquid earth

Frightening isn't it?
To be a creator.
Every absent sound
You were dreaming up.

Every lacking detail, you held in your mind.
You made paradise to love me.
Paradise needs hell.
